Public Invited to Grand Opening of South Mountain Community Entrepreneurship Center

The public is invited to tour the new South Mountain Community College (SMCC) Community Entrepreneurship Center (CEC) Thursday, November 12, 2015. The new CEC is a business incubator offering education, services, tools, and resources for start-up and existing businesses that includes dedicated workspace, office, conference room, ‘superman’ call booth, kitchen, and lounge space for student-entrepreneurs. The space offers computers as well as Wi-Fi for bring-your-own-devices.

The CEC environment creates connections to grow and sustain entrepreneurs and small businesses by providing a unique co-learning space where student entrepreneurs will be able to collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners supporting entrepreneurship.

Community partners providing support include:

  • SCORE (Service Corp of Retired Executives)
  • SBDC (Maricopa Small Business Development Center)
  • AWEE (Arizona Women’s Education & Employment center)
  • ASU Skysong Office of Entrepreneurship + Innovation.

Start-up seed funding is available to student entrepreneurs through semi-annual venture pitch contests and Micro-finance program offered jointly with MariSol Federal Credit Union and small Matters.
